What is Elderhood?

Elderhood  brings older adults together allowing them to pursue their interests, learn something new and make meaningful connections.

Elderhood Membership offers unlimited access to our beautiful flagship and engaging programming to stimulate mind, body & spirit including:

  • Lectures and interactive workshops led by university professors, award-winning authors, and world-renowned experts.

Who is Elderhood for?

Elderhood is designed for older adults looking to pursue their interests, learn something new and make new friends. There is no minimum age requirement, but members range from their 50s to 90s.

Is Elderhood able to accommodate guests with cognitive and/or physical challenges?

Elderhood is a welcoming environment for all, including those with mild to moderate cognitive or physical limitations. While our team is committed to supporting our members in any way possible, we are not able to provide hands-on or medical support and care such as toileting, feeding, or medication administration.

For those with cognitive or physical limitations, we also recommend Elderhood At-Home.With Elderhood At-Home, we match a personalized group of 5-8 members based on shared interests and needs with a trained and vetted facilitator. These groups meet weekly at the home of a local member for half or full-day sessions of our signature Elderhood programming.

Can I pay for Elderhood via Medicare or Medicaid?

Elderhood does not qualify for insurance at this time. Medicare and most health insurance programs will not cover adult day care expenses, but we hope to be able to qualify in the future.

Elderhood Membership grants you access to Elderhood's flagship location, vibrant community and robust weekly programming. For a limited time, join as a Founding Elderhood Member for $195/month.

How do I try Elderhood for free?

Try Elderhood for free, no commitment necessary! 

  1. Contact us at hello@myelderhood.com or at (475) 255-6009 to schedule a day that works for you. 
  2. Stop by for a tour, join us for lunch or afternoon tea or check out one of our activities including movement classes, lectures and live entertainment. 
  3. We'll arrange complimentary transportation (within 10 miles of our locations) and feel free to bring a family member or friend!

Does Elderhood Membership require a commitment? Can I cancel or pause?

Your Elderhood Membership can be canceled at any time--no commitment required! You may also pause your membership for up to 3 months during a 12-month period.

What programming does Elderhood offer?

Elderhood programming includes:

What is the Elderhood Wellness Program?

Elderhood wellness programming is designed by physical therapists and fitness experts. 

Elderhood wellness classes include:

  • Movement classes include stretch, full body strength, and chair yoga. Classes include a range of techniques that support balance, mobility, and stability for every age.
  • Cognitive stimulation therapy, an evidence-based program that supports concentration, memory and reasoning skills.
Are meals provided?

Nutritious, family-style lunch is served daily and is included as part of your membership. Our menu includes several different options to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Members also have access to always-on coffee and tea, including our signature afternoon tea served with light bites from local partners.

Is transportation provided?

Elderhood is happy to facilitate round-trip transportation via Uber Health within a 10-mile radius of our locations. Rides are complimentary during the month of April.

What does an Elderhood At-Home session include?

Elderhood At-Home allows you to enjoy the Elderhood experience in a more tailored environment, in your neighborhood. Our small group format allows programming to be tailored based on the needs & interests of our members. 

Programming is delivered by a trained and vetted facilitator, and includes:

  • Expert-designed Wellness Program which supports physical and cognitive strength.
  • Enriching interactive activities.
  • Game instruction including bridge, mahjongg, backgammon and chess.

You’ll also have access to Elderhood’s marquis lectures and entertainment, delivered to you digitally.

Elderhood At-Home

What is Elderhood At-Home?

Elderhood At-Home is a new kind of shared, in-home care. It combines the socialization of a country club, with the support of an adult day center. Our At-Home groups are made up of just 5-8 Members who are carefully matched based on their interests and supervised by a vetted and trained facilitator who can tailor programming to their individual needs. Groups meet weekly at the home of a local member for half or full-day sessions.

Elderhood At-Home is a great fit for Members who live farther away from our flagship or who prefer a more intimate and personalized experience.

Who is Elderhood At-Home for?

Elderhood At-Home is a great fit for Members who prefer a more intimate and personalized experience. We find that this small group experience is especially a good fit for members who may have physical or cognitive limitations and who require additional care and support.

Members who are unable to travel can also experience Elderhood by becoming an At-Home host. Learn more about hosting.

What are the benefits of Elderhood At-Home?

Elderhood At-Home provides smaller group experiences for older adults to grow and thrive in older age, regardless of physical or cognitive limitations. Members are matched with small groups for enriching programming, socialization and support.

What does Elderhood At-Home cost?

Elderhood is an affordable in-home care alternative. Sessions are $60 for a half-day or $120 for a full-day – half the cost of traditional home care. 

We ask members to commit to 4 sessions per month which allows us to create a consistent group experience and to ensure members have continuous programming for maximum benefits.

How do I host an Elderhood At-Home group?

We invite you to provide your home as an Elderhood At-Home location. How does it work?

  • Provide your home for at least one half-day session per week on an ongoing basis. 
  • Elderhood will provide a small group of 5-8 older adults and a vetted and trained facilitator for weekly sessions. 
  • You’ll receive complimentary Elderhood membership or compensation.

How are Elderhood At-Home locations selected and reviewed?

All Elderhood At-Home locations are reviewed to ensure they meet our strong safety and comfort requirements.

How are Elderhood At-Home facilitators vetted and trained?

Elderhood At-Home facilitators come from strong healthcare and/or senior care backgrounds and are supervised by our medical advisory board

All complete comprehensive background checks and go through extensive training. Training includes National Caregiver Certification, dementia care certification from the Alzheimer's Association and Cognitive Stimulation Therapy certification in partnership with the experts at University College London.

Elderhood Team & Locations

Who is on the Elderhood team?

Elderhood was founded by Brynn Putnam, an experienced health and wellness entrepreneur and the founder of MIRROR, the pioneering at-home fitness technology company acquired by lululemon. 

Elderhood's advisory board includes expert physical therapists, registered nurses, social workers and occupational therapists. Learn more about the team here.

Elderhood At-Home facilitators and flagship team come from strong healthcare and/or senior care backgrounds. All complete comprehensive background checks and go through extensive training. Our flagship is located at 123 Mason Street in downtown Greenwich, Connecticut. Elderhood is also available through At-home locations in the tristate area and will be expanding to additional locations soon.
